I was walking around Best Buy today, waiting for my mom to show up at the mall, so we could go get some lunch, when I decided to look at their CDs. More specifically, their jazz CDs. Now look, I'm not saying I was expecting anything substantial, as far as their selection was concerned, but when you have three rows worth of Kenny G's bullshit music, and only one row of John Coltrane, one row of Miles Davis (with only copies of his greatest hits and Birth of the Cool mind you (Not to say Birth of the Cool is a bad album, but it's pretty cliche is all)), and not even a single divider for Bill Evans or Thelonius Monk or Charles Mingus, something is fucked up. Sure Kenny G played the longest note or whatever, but I think he should have practiced making decent music instead. I guess I shouldn't get too bent out of shape, because I'm pretty sure everyone already knows that Best Buy is a terrible store, but I guess I just felt like beating [off] a dead horse. Not to mention, I am kind of sick, so I am kind of in a mood because of it.
One paper, two salvos of math homework, and my finals and I am done with this semester. Thank God. Someone remind me to never take two math classes at the same time again.
Music time now, okay?
My favorite way to cook a cup of noodles is this:
- Preemptively add chili powder and salt
- Add boiling water, cook as long as normal
- Pour out water after it is cooked
- Add hot sauce(s)
- Stir
- Eat
- Poop fire
Also, I think I maybe mentioned it before that, Dr. Bob (the Food World version of Dr. Pepper) is delicious. Seriously, I like it better than Dr, Pepper. Not to mention you can get 3 liters of it for about a dollar. What's not to love?
Also also, I am really procrastinating writing this paper.
I always hoped I'd be able to post this and it have some sort of relevance. What a great fucking song.
Just to meet me in the morning
And I thought it was strange, you said everything changed
You felt as if you just woke up
And you said, this is the first day of my life
Glad I didn't die before I met you
Now I don't care, I could go anywhere with you
And I'd probably be happy
I should call my mom sometime. It has been a while since I have talked to someone I am related to (Chris, you are not included in this).
I was very cautious what'd you say
Hey there
Would you like to see me often?
Though you dont need to see me often
'Cause I'd like to see you often
Though I don't need to see you often
Fuck. I am genuinely sad that Michael Crichton died. I mean really. I think I've said before that Jurassic Park was the first novel that I ever read (quickly followed by The Lost World), and that he was what really got me into reading when I was a kid. I think from the ages of 7 to 10 I read the majority of his work, and I probably reread Jurassic Park and The Lost World every year until I was about 16. I just read Next a few months ago, and I have to say, it was pretty good. Prey and State of Fear were alright, but I think he did a really good job with Next. I guess it helped that I find genetics and genetic engineering fascinating though.
If you've never really read a lot of his stuff, here are my favorites:
- Jurassic Park
- The Lost World
- Timeline
- Airframe
- Next
- Congo
Fuuuuuuuck
What's your favorite saying?
