I've been listening to a lot of Test Icicles lately. I'm kind of surprised I haven't put anything up by them before actually. They're really fucking noisy and loud and ridiculous and I love it. It's kind of a shame they didn't put out more than one album, but the one they did put out is really good, so it makes up for it. Anyways, this is my favorite song by them; it is about sharks.
My mom brought me my Great Outdoor Fight book today. I got number 67 out of 250, so that is pretty neat. I wasn't expecting, but I was definitely hoping for a low number. It also has a drawing of Roast Beef in his goggles in it. I would take a picture of it too, but like I said, Garrett's asleep, so I can't borrow his camera right now. I could use my phone, but the camera on it wouldn't do justice to my purchases. It is a very excellent book though, and I highly reccomend you pick it up. It has some neat GOF lore in it, and you would also be supporting one of the best webcartoonists ever.
My mom also brought me my pizza making stuff from the house, so I may be reviving my pizblog sometime soon.
This goes out to a very special someone.
Man, tonight was awesome. After a week of mediocrity, this was a great change of pace.
It started with Garrett and me going to the End of the Line Cafe across town for delicious vegan sandwiches and coffee. I had a grilled cheese (smokey gouda on rye bread) and potato and cabbage and carrot soup. It was definitely the fanciest grilled cheese I've ever had, and I'm willing to bet it was also the tastiest. I'm not really sure how vegan cheese works out, but they someone did something right with the gouda. The smokey goodness mixed with rye which was then dipped into the soup was just amazing. It was a strange and delicious amalgamation of tastes and textures. Garrett had a Knuckle's sandwich (named after, I guess, the owner's dog). It was basically a vegan club sandwich. He said it was delicious and I believe him. When we go back sometime (we are definitely going back sometime), I think I will get it. The sandwich was piled high with vegan things and was also served with tabouli; that shit looked delicious (I actually had some of the tabouli and it was delicious).
After that we were on our way back across town, but we ended up seeing a Krispy Kreme that was making hot donuts now (then), so we obviously had to stop and pick up a dozen (also a few hats).
Around nine o'clock we head back across town to Sluggo's for the show. It was O Pioneers!!! and The I Hate Yous and it was really fucking good. It was the first show that I've been there where there was practically no one though. As in, aside from the bands' respective members, I think there were maybe ten people in all (myself and Garrett included). However, the smaller crowd allowed for actual human interaction among strangers, so that was pretty cool. People we met include: Ayla, Patrick (guitarist for the I Hate Yous), Jesse (bassist for the I Hate Yous), Travis (drummer for the I Hate Yous), Tomas (a guy in Garrett's enviromental science class), and D (breakdancer extraordinair, also it was his 21st birthday). Both bands put on a great show despite the very sparse crowd. I mean, I gotta hand it to them, actually bothering to put on a good show at a small venue with a smaller crowd takes heart. They atmospher was great, everyone was very chill and having a good time. After the show we all hung out and talked for a while, smoked, whatever. It was great.
Also, I bought an awesome shirt and a limited edition, misprinted album. The album is doubly awesome because the music kicks ass and the ghost on the front glows in the dark (KILLER).
Went to the Why? show. Had some tasty beverages. Heard awesome music. Danced with a cute indie-girl. Bought a purple t-shirt. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
This song is stupidly catchy.
Said I can do a lot of things, but I can't do that
Two steps forward, then three steps back
It won't be easy
I can't wait to get the rest of my scholarship money in. I'll be able to afford my own guitar; plus I'll be able to buy a new mouse for my computer and maybe some RAM as well. My mouse has started doing this thing where it randomly double clicks and it's more annoying that you probably think it is. I need to either find my S-Video cable or buy a new one, so I can use my laptop as a media PC for the living room. I've been streaming everything to my Wii via Winamp Remote, but there is a noticeable loss in video quality and you have to wait for it to buffer everything and it also can't play HD content (not that I have an HD tv, but some of the movies I have I could only find in HD, i.e. Tekkon Kinkreet). The program is great for streaming music though. Not to mention, if I set up the laptop to play to the TVs, then we'll have three different screens playing the same thing (our TV setup is pretty awesome (not really, but it is pretty funny)).
And they all lived happily ever after. The End.
Lol, you cockbag.
Oh man, oh man have I been pseudo-productive today. I went to Wachovia and opened a student checking and saving account. Now I have a checking account at a bank that actually has branches in the same county that I live in! In fact, the closest Wachovia is less than a quarter of a mile away, so score. Also, now all of my funds aren't tied up in paychecks and scholarship refund checks. My money is tangible! Well, kind of. I went ahead and skipped out on getting checks, so I have to wait a week until they send me a debit card. Man, between my Eglin card, my UWF debit card, and my new Wachovia one, I'm going to be carrying around a lot of shit in my wallet (not to mention my school ID, driver's license, etc.).
Also, I went to Office Max today and bought a really cheap laser printer. As in, $60 cheap. It has really good reviews on Newegg and Buy.com too, so I'm pretty stoked about it. The thing is though, they were out in the store, so I have to wait a week for them to ship it to me. Hey, $60 though. That's pretty hard to beat for a laser printer. Now I won't have to go all the way to the campus library when I need to print something. I mean, its's not really that far away, but it is a hassle. I have a feeling this thing is going to end up paying for itself.
Plans for the rest of the day:
- Homework
- Eat

I wish all my pitfalls
could be called my miscalls
People greet me, I'm polite
"What's the day?" "What's you doing?"
Oh man, I just bought a signed, numbered copy of The Great Outdoor Fight. I haven't really been in the habit of spending money lately, so the $37.50 I forked over is eating at me. I'm sure I'll get over it once it arrives in the mail.
Also, I went and had some vegan BBQ last night at Sluggos. It was very delicious and very cheap. Oh man, if it wasn't all the way across town I would eat there every damn day - except Wednesday (they're closed).
Okay, I guess I should actually update for real.
Well, long story short, I'm all moved in now, and I'm relatively adjusted to living away from home.
The details are this:
- My class schedule is pretty heavy, but I'm actually feeling accomplished for the first time in my college career by actually having to apply myself, and also by having a discernible goal to work towards.
- I really miss my drum set. A lot.
- I'm not content, but I think I'm as close as I can be at this point in my life.
- I am spending less money than I ever have in my adult life.
- The turkey and cheese sandwich with side of chili from a can has gone underrated for most of my life; I have resolved this issue.
- Our downstairs neighbors are good people (Jennifer, Melissa, and Terry). Also Garrett is pseudo-dating one of them (Melissa) as of last night? I guess?
- I am still terrible at guitar (working on it though).
- I haven't bought a tank of gas in month.
- Getting lost on campus has turned into a daily routine.
- Playing N64 and watching movies have also fallen into that routine.
- Living in Pensacola means we are only a few hours from New Orleans which means we are [maybe] going to see the Motion City Soundtrack on the 15th.
We've got love and hate it's the only way
