What's the best present you gave this year?
Nice question, an ol' spin on the "what's the best present you got this year?". This year I gave Marie some nice sushi style jewelery and I gave my brother a kick ass fully automatic airsoft gun. Those were the two best presents I gave out mosdef.
How do you take your tea or coffee?
Submitted by Vasquez. It depends. If the coffee is really shitty (like whatever they make in the breakroom for instance), I'll normally put in about one sugar and one creamer. If the coffee is good though (like from McDonalds or Waffle House) I'll normally just drink it black. As far as green tea goes, I like the kind with citrus and stuff from the bottle, but if I drink it hot I liek to put in a lump of sugar and a little bit of lemon. Sweet tea, I just drink it however the people make it.
In non beverage related news, Marie and I got fish! One orange fan-tailed and one red and white Oranda. The fan-tailed is named Annabell Lee and the Oranda is named Voltron. Guess who named that one.
What books did you love as a child?
Submitted by hearts.
What a great question! Due to my strict father making me read all the damn time as a kid I have a few favorites.
- Mr. Popper's Penguins - A great book about a guy who some how ended up with a bunch of penguins and made cash off of it.
- Jurassic Park and The Lost World - Like I mentioned before, I had to read a lot when I was younger, so I started reading novels at a pretty young age. In retrospect, it probably wasn't such a great idea for a 7 year old to read about people being disemboweled by velociraptors.
- Goosebumps - So many kids getting almost eaten by swamp things.
In other news, got a Wii, but I haven't really played it. I've but maybe 5 hours into Zelda and even less into Wii sports. Now that I don't have class anymore though, I should be able to make up for that.
Also, fuck Christmas. Thanks to this super duper holiday I get to work 9 hour shifts almost everyday. Sure it's more money, but that's also time spent catering to rednecks and fat black women who have me ring up entire buggies worth of groceries/toys then realizes that their food stamps don't come in until tomorrow (yes you can buy toys with food stamps, fucked up? yes). This has happened to me 3 times in the last week. One person did this and before I started ringing up all of her stuff she even admitted to not knowing if she had any money or not. Stupid whore. How are you going to go grocery shopping with out knowing if you have any money or not?
In short, everyone is retarded.
There's an RS show on Thursday, so make sure you make it out to that. It's prom themed, so if you wear something nice, you get half off the cover. Please show up. The sooner we get rich and famous, the sooner I can quit my jorb.

What's on your Top 5 video games list?
Submitted by mileena.
I'm glad you asked. This is a toughie, I only play games that I like, so picking 5 will be kind of difficult. Here goes nothing though.
1. Final Fantasy 3 for SNES
I'd like to say that I put these on here in no particular order, but I have to admit that this was the first game to spring into my head when I started thinking of games I like. I think the first time I played this was when I was 8, and I was hooked ever since. Definitely the best Final Fantasy in the series if you ask me. Final Fantasy 7, what kind of garbage is that?
2. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (PS2/Dreamcast/Arcade)
This is my all time favorite fighting game. Go ahead and ask anyone that really knows me, they'll tell you. I spent so much money on the arcade machine of this it's ridiculous. In my prime, I was all Air Hyper Viper Beaming people to kingdom come, give'n them the ol' fast fly combos and what not. I would still play it, but the arcade sold the machine.
3. Half-life + mods and expansions (PC)
I doubt I have played any game more than Half-Life and definitely not Counter-Strike. I played Counter-Strike 1.5 and 1.6 through-out most of middle school and high school. Super awesome. I mean, there has to be a reason why it's still the most played FPS online.
4. Guitar Hero 1 and 2 (PS2)
Holy crap. This game rocks, pun intended. I spent most of the summer beating the first game and now I've beaten the second game. Great, great stuff. The songs are awesome and it's a lot more fulfilling to play the game than to air guitar to them.
5. Pokemon Blue Version (GB)
I replayed this game at least 20 times, and if my cartridge hadn't started messing up I probably would still be playing it. It got to the point where I could beat the game in under 8 hours because the cartridge would reset all of my saves after that much time had been played. I would also like to say that I beat this game before the gigantic pokemon explosion in the late 90s. I bought the game purely on the fact that it had a turtle with guns coming out of its back.
Honorable mentions:
1. Advance Wars 1 and 2 (GBA)
2. The Sims (PC)
3. Forza Motorsport (Xbox)
4. Super Mariokart (SNES)
5. Dragon Warrior Monsters (GB)
What's the most drastic change you've ever made to your appearance?
Submitted by Laurie.
A few months ago I cut me pretty long hair (down to my shoulders) down to a buzz cut. No one really liked it, but I prefer it by far. Not having to brush my hair all the damn time or worrying whether or not it's looking good is a plus. Not to mention, since my hair is really oily sometimes, whenever I would go a day or so without washing my hair it would feel very extremely gross. So yeah, short hair is much better.
Yesterday, Marie woke me up with Guitar Hero 2. Woo buddy! At first I was kind of skeptical when she told to wake up so I could play Guitar Hero. I was thinking she meant that I should wake up so that I could go to Wal-Mart and get get it, but I got up and there it was propped against my T.V. Needless to say, I played it until I had to go to work, went to work, then played it when I got home from work. I'm also about to go play it right now. Only a few more songs to go and I'll beat expert, woo hoo!
Yeah, after three cups of delicious McDonald's coffee this morning after class I was far too wired to work on my big ass sociology project. Instead, I bought Don't Stop Believin' off of iTunes proceeded to jam out for about... an hour. Yes, an hour of one Journey song on and on and on and on. Man was it good though. I now have an undisputed #1 played song on my iTunes.
I decided to take this time to make a non-QotD post. I think I have way too many of those.
My sociology project is basically a big biography of my family. Not so bad except we have to go back to our grandparents on both sides. Plus, each section has to have at least 3 pages. However, through hours of dedication and not installing Battlefield 2, I am almost finished. I just have to write my autobiography and my maternal grandparents' biography, so not too much left to do. I think that for today, I'm finished. Tomorrow I'll hammer the rest out before/after work.
Today, I also jump started Jon Seroogy's Chevy Avalanche. This is probably the manliest thing I've done in a while, aside from slapping my woman around and watching football while nursing a cold one and thinking back to when I almost made state... if only my knee hadn't blown out...
What's your sign? What do you think of astrology and horoscopes?
I am a Gemini. What do I think of it? I think it's pretty retarded actually. Horoscopes are so vague it's rediculous, "Today an event will take place where you may or may not be happy or sad." Plus, you know this is all a bunch of crock when you see that Wal-Mart is selling a book called Astrology For Your Cat. Yeah...
In honor of Vox's launch tomorrow, what's your favorite feature or aspect of Vox?
I have to admit, the QotD is pretty awesome. It's like blogging for idiots! I never have to spend time thinking about what to blog about anymore. I hardly blog anymore as it is, so whenever I feel like doing it I rarely know what to say, but with QotD it's just like prompt writing from 5th grade again. Also, I thought Vox had already launched. What's going to be different about it when it does launch? I guess I'll find out tomorrow.
What are 5 things you'd like to accomplish in the next 5 years?
There are so many things, but I guess five will have to do.
For starters, I would love to graduate from college and be finished with school forever. That would be great, but before I could do that I would have to finally figure out what I want to major in, I can only do general studies until I get my AA and then I have to declare something. At the moment, I really have only a vague idea of what I might like to do, but nothing to alert the counselors about. Anyways, I think that was two things, but we'll lump them together and call it a two-fer.
Another thing I would like to do would be to get a quieter keyboard, this one is really freaking loud/old/shitty (this might actually get accomplished soon).
I would also like to get a kickass drumset. So far, this is about halfway accomplished, and the second half is going to be a doozy too. I still need to get a new snare stand, cymbal stands, cymbals, a comfier throne, and better drum heads. Some carrying cases might be nice too. All in all it'll probably end up being an easy grand or so to pay for all of it. Sheesh, I need a cheaper talent. I know that was two material things in a row, and this is probably supposed to be about important life things, so I guess I'll get to that.
Being part of a world famous band would be cool. Hell, I'll even settle for North American famous. I think Rhetorical Shotgun is probably... a fifth of the way there, and that may be generous, or I could be pessimisitic about it. I'm just trying to be realistic about it. I mean, it seems like we all have the talent (Mitch especially), but we've only played one club, and we're going to be playing that same club again, and I'm hoping we're not going to become one of those bands that ends up playing just clubs over and over. Yes, I know this means I need to practice, and I have. I even have a cool new metronome to build up my chops with.
One last thing would be movign out of the house. I love my parents, but my dad can be pretty unbearable sometimes. I hardly see them now as it is (not a complaint), but when I do see them, it usually ends up turning into some kind of lecture from my dad (a complaint).
In other news, I watched The Little Mermaid with Marie tonight after work. Man, what a movie. Watching it again after all of these years, and it still holds up. The animation is amazing in it. Did you know all off the bubbles were hand drawn? Dang. Not to mention this probably has one of, if not, the best musical scores of any movie ever. Who doesn;t know atleast one song from this? Ethiopians, but they also don;t know about food, so they don't count. I guess all I'm really trying to say is, fuck this loud, shitty keyboard.
